My husband would tell you that whenever we went on a holiday, it took us the first 3 days to get beyond talking about the kids or work, and then enjoy ourselves.
Our daily walk together isn’t long enough to get through those topics!
So I created this deck of Couple Conversation Cards to move beyond discussion about work and kids.
There are 18 cards, one set of “Learn About Me” curiosity questions, and a set of “Just for Fun” playful questions.
Learn About Me Cards

Don’t worry! The “Learn About Me” cards are not therapy-style questions. They’re curiosity questions. The kind that invites listening, not fixing. (No arguments!)
- When answering questions, it’s better to be side-by-side because it softens defensiveness. Walking, sitting on deck chairs by the pool is perfect!
- Allow one person to fully answer the question. When both have answered the question uninterrupted, you can have a conversation.
- Bring your curiosity & cheerleader-self. No negative comments! Remember: this is an exercise to draw you closer.
